This policy explains what DevTools Hub does and does not do with your data, in plain language. It is not a substitute for legal advice, but it accurately reflects how the site actually works.
The short version
Every tool on this site — the UUID generator, JSON formatter, JWT decoder, password generator, and everything else — runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Whatever you type or paste into a tool is processed on your device and is never sent to our servers. We have no database of tool inputs because there is nothing to store: we simply never receive it.
What we do collect
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic — which pages are visited, how often, and from roughly where. It is cookieless: it does not set tracking cookies, does not use fingerprinting, and does not store or link data to any individual visitor. We cannot see who you are or what you did with a specific tool from this data.
Local storage
Your dark/light theme preference is saved in your browser's localStorage, not a cookie. It stays on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and you can clear it at any time through your browser's settings.
Advertising
We may show ads through Google AdSense to help cover hosting costs. If and when ads are active, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to personalize ads and measure their performance. This is governed by Google's own privacy policy, not ours — we don't control or see the data Google collects for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ads Settings.
What we never collect
- The text, JSON, JWTs, passwords, or any other input you put into a tool.
- Account information — there are no accounts (yet; see our roadmap on the About page).
- Any data that identifies you personally, tied to your tool usage.
Third-party links
Some pages link out to external documentation or resources (e.g. MDN, RFC specs). We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of sites we link to — check their own policies before sharing information with them.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, when we launch optional accounts in a future phase — we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
