What this tool does
Paste YAML and get back JSON — parsed through the same engine as YAML Validator, so a file that's rejected there (tab indentation, duplicate keys, a genuine syntax error) is rejected here the same way instead of silently producing something wrong.
Multi-document files
A YAML file with more than one ----separated document converts into a JSON array, one element per document. A single-document file converts into a bare JSON value instead of a one-element array — the output matches whatever the YAML actually describes.
FAQ
What happens to YAML anchors and aliases (& and *)?
They're resolved before conversion — an alias becomes a full copy of whatever it points to in the JSON output, since JSON has no equivalent shorthand for repeated structures.
What happens to comments?
They're dropped — JSON has no comment syntax, so there's nowhere for them to go.
Does this support multiple documents in one file?
Yes — each ----separated document becomes one element of a JSON array. See above.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No — everything happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
Try it yourself
Need the reverse direction instead? JSON to YAML converts a JSON value back into YAML.
