Markdown

Markdown to HTML

Convert Markdown into HTML, including GFM tables, with a sanitized live preview.

Part of the Markdown Toolkit

The HTML output and download are the raw conversion, unmodified. The Preview tab renders a sanitized copy (via DOMPurify) so pasted raw HTML or scripts can't run in this page.

What this tool does

Paste Markdown and get back HTML — headings, lists, links, fenced code blocks, and GitHub Flavored Markdown extras like tables and strikethrough. The HTML output is the raw conversion result, unmodified, so it's safe to drop straight into a static site, email template, or CMS field exactly as generated.

Preview vs. HTML output

The HTML tab shows the exact markup the converter produced. The Preview tab renders that markup so you can see what it looks like — but runs it through DOMPurify first, since Markdown can contain raw, passed-through HTML (including a stray <script>). Only the preview is sanitized; the output and download are left untouched.

FAQ

Does this support GitHub Flavored Markdown (tables, strikethrough)?

Yes — tables, strikethrough, and task lists all convert correctly, the same dialect used by the Markdown Table Generator.

What happens to raw HTML already inside the Markdown?

It passes through unchanged, per the CommonMark spec — Markdown has always allowed embedded HTML blocks. That's also why the live preview is sanitized rather than rendered as-is.

Is my content uploaded anywhere?

No — everything happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

Try it yourself

Need the reverse direction instead? HTML to Markdown converts markup back into Markdown.
